Before Milton Keynes 1

The growth of Milton Keynes over the past 50 years has created a focal point for the district. North Bucks was predominantly rural with small towns such ad Newport Pagnell, Stony Stratford and Fenny Stratford. The creation of Wolverton in the 19th century changed that somewhat and made that new industrial town something of a focal point.

The area has a rich history and we are now starting a new series to bring attention to much of this history. Each volume will feature almost ball communities within a 12 mile radius of Central Milton Keynes and will therefore include parts of South Northamptonshire and East Befordshire.

John Taylor and Bryan Dunleavy have collaborated to produce these volumes. The stories will be presented in ‘bite sized” accounts. A second volume in the series will appear in the Spring of 2021.
